Wellbeing Through Art With Tanya
My name is Tanya, I am a mature student at Derby University studying a BA in Creative, Expressive Arts, Health & Wellbeing. As a multidisciplinary artist, I am deeply passionate about using art to promote and enhance wellbeing. My journey in the arts is driven by a desire to help others. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to further my education to become an art therapist.
At this stage in my journey, I am looking at ways visual arts and mixing art modalities could support wellbeing by building confidence and creativity in adults who may feel hesitant to engage with the arts. In my workshops, I strive to create a welcoming and non-judgmental environment where individuals of all skill levels can explore and express themselves creatively. I offer a diverse range of activities that invite participants to experiment with different materials and engage in mindful art-making. My goal is to foster a calm and enjoyable atmosphere that encourages personal expression and connection through creativity.
Join me on this journey of exploration and self-discovery through art!
Calm Minds, Creative Hands With Emma
Hello! My name is Emma and I’m a student in my third year at the University of Derby, studying Creative Expressive Arts for Health and Wellbeing. I love all things arty including painting, character design and making earrings. I also love looking after plants and I’m a huge fan of Kpop music! I have a big passion in the arts and sharing this passion with others.
The creative arts can boost wellbeing, help reduce mental illness and allow self-expression. My goal is to show people that anyone can do art and shouldn’t be afraid of creativity as there are so many benefits to the arts. I hope one day, arts for health will be available to everyone in schools, workplaces and the community, to improve their wellbeing.
How does Creative and Expressive Art help with our wellbeing?
Creative and expressive art can boost our well-being by offering a unique outlet for processing emotions, enhancing self-awareness, and even improving mental health.
Art allows individuals to express emotions they may find difficult to put into words, like frustration, sadness, or joy. Painting, drawing, and other art forms can serve as emotional outlets, providing relief from stress.
Mindfulness through art shifts focus away from daily worries and helps create a calming effect, improving mental clarity and reducing rumination on negative thoughts.
