Local Mind’s Week – Administrator
7 August 2024
A day in the life of a Wellbeing Coach at Derbyshire Mind.
What service do you work for?
Central Services (“back office” operations at Head Office)
What is your role at Derbyshire Mind?
Administrator
What does a typical day look like?
I work across a lot of different areas, so each day is varied. Sometimes I have days focusing on finance, where I’m posting and paying invoices, sometimes I am setting up for a new starter, sometimes I am responding to queries and phone calls. I try to be a point of knowledge to help colleagues where I can.
What’s the most rewarding thing about your job?
My colleagues that I work with are the most rewarding part of my job. I get to work alongside people who work and passionately (and compassionately) to improve the mental wellbeing of people in Derbyshire and are actively creating positive social change. I also enjoy getting involved and volunteering with the Mental Wellbeing Services and events where I can, so I get to see the work that Derbyshire Mind does, at MindSpace Walks, our Chatsworth Mental Wellbeing sessions, or our Mental Elf events for example. It’s really rewarding seeing people engage in and benefit from what Derbyshire Mind does.
What does it mean to you to work for your Local Mind?
As I’m not often service-user facing, I say that I “support people to support people.” Mental health and wellbeing being prioritised to improve people’s quality of life is the change that I want to see in the world and help make possible – this is what my local Mind is working towards.
